Instructions for use

Thermal indicator TOM (roll-on) is applied once on a dry skin surface, in the form of application (with several circular movements), most often in the neck (similar to suffocation thermometers), along the carotid artery (arteria carotis externa) .

For reference, the area where the pulse is felt can be touched with the tip of the index finger. The indicator is also suitable for application on the forehead, armpit (axial temperature) or chest of the child. It is also possible to apply in parallel at different points.

TOM provides easy long-term monitoring (up to 24 hours) of body temperature in the areas on which it is placed. At temperatures above 37.0 degrees Celsius (98.6 F), the indicator changes color from black (at temperatures up to 36.9 degrees) to pink – at temperatures above 37.4 degrees. In the range 37.0 – 37.3, the color is deep purple.

If the change is due to an external factor (prolonged stay of heat and warming of the body), after normalization of body temperature, the color again becomes the original (black).

When to use TOM?

An increase in body temperature (pyrexia) in response to an ongoing infectious disease is a reaction of the body that aids in the healing process. During colds, flu, post-vaccination or other conditions, TOM provides the opportunity for continuous monitoring. Especially suitable for home and outdoor use indoors (schools, kindergartens, hospitals, retail space, etc.), during the autumn-winter period, to limit the spread of infectious diseases. Created as an anti-epidemic measure.

Recommendations for use:

It is recommended that the measurements be performed in an upright position due to the redistribution of blood flow.

Hypertension (high blood pressure) and the use of various types of medication (atropine, some antipsychotics, etc.), as well as alcohol consumption, can lead to an increase in skin surface temperature.

Rise in body temperature, in the absence of other complaints, for a long period of time (over 10-14 days), may be due to chronic infections or systemic diseases.
